Oh yes, you read that correctly..step away from the couch! As comfortable as it may look, it’s important step away from the comfortable couch.
To achieve a healthy lifestyle, you must leave the couch and get yourself moving. By resisting the temptation of the comfy couch you will be fighting off the temptation to the main culprits of overeating, oversleeping, and ultimately an unhealthy sedentary lifestyle that may lead to obesity.
We’ve been guilty of slouching on the couch that inevitably leads to laying on the couch so we nixed this habit by purchasing ‘uncomfortable’ couches. Although they look stylish, they are meant for sitting upright. This may sound like a drastic move but it was necessary in our home to avoid the ‘couch potato’ syndrome.
Do you have ‘couch potatoes’ in your home? If purchasing new couches is not in the budget using a timer may do the trick. Set the timer to go off every 30 minutes. Once it goes off, the person on the couch must get up and move. Make it a game and before you know it, it will become a habit. Staying active is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
Staying away from the comfy couch will get you on your way to achieving a healthy lifestyle and it all begins with YOU!
